WWSVA Virtual Dog Show Judging Guidelines
JUDGES
The WWSVAA Administrator will select the judges.
APPROVED JUDGE: approved to judge Swedish Vallhunds and at least four (3) other breeds (in any group) and holds judging qualifications with any recognised Kennel Club.
SCORING
Each participating Swedish Vallhund is individually evaluated by each judge using the scale of points (see judges score sheet). Immediately following the completion of judging, the judges' marked (but not tallied for total scores) sheets will be emailed to the WWSVA Virtual Dog Show Administrator to tabulate scores.
The scores for each dog, from each of the three judges, are tabulated, added together, then divided by number of judges to determine the dog's average score. In the event of a tie, the winner is determined by consulting the " Breed Type Score " total. The dog with the highest " Breed Type Score " total is declared the winner. This figure (Breed Type Score) is used ONLY to break a tie.
The finalist with the highest score is the winner.
JUDGING PROCEDURE
The simple ground rules are as follows: Each judge will score each dog individually, using the scale of points from the FCI Breed standard. The winner will be determined on the basis of the total score of each dog. In the event of a tie, it shall be broken by using the "Breed Type Score" marked by each judges score sheet, as the determining factor.
The rationale for this system is as follows:
Whenever a judge examines an individual dogs photos and compares him, mentally, to the judge's picture of the ideal, the judge is going through the work of judging by scoring. The scoring system adds the assigning of numerical values to the main factors of the judging, and it demands that the judge indicate wherein he penalizes for less than the ideal characteristics.
The judge must go on record with the scores. Moreover, the scores are recorded part by part.
The judge must also indicate the degree of deviation in each part from the ideal. The judge also scores each dog before actually judging it, by using the Breed Type Score.. In other words, judges must look at the dog as a whole, and scores that dog on its overall Breed Type, with a score of 0 to 10 meaning the higher the score the closer to the judge's picture of the ideal Swedish Vallhund.
So this is the judging system that will be used. It will be challenging for the judges. The judges will be "on record" as to the whole dog and each part of the dog. It will offer a numerical standard.
